Fine rib
SCHIESSER began creating so-called rib fabrics in 1923. In addition to sturdy double rib, fine rib, produced on new flat and circular knitting machines and by means of innovative needle systems, established itself as well. It was based on processing technology used in hosiery production; stocking cuffs were traditionally produced in this way.
Fine rib underwear: unprecedented comfort
As the name suggests, fine rib is a finely ribbed knitwear that is woven according to the “one right and one left” principle. As a result, the surface is textured and stretchy – a completely new level of comfort for the 1920s. After times of solid knit fabrics, fine rib underwear now offered plenty of freedom of movement, but was still breathable and good at absorbing moisture. This type of comfortable underwear came as a real blessing, especially during heavy physical activity!
Underwear that does it all for all ages
At SCHIESSER, fine rib underwear is used in all our product groups: whether as a onesie for babies or undershirt for children, a cool tank top for teens, a strap tank top for women or sports briefs for men – fine rib is popular with everyone. The big advantage: even quality fabrics made of 100% cotton become stretchy – thanks to the knitting method described above – and feel pleasantly soft on the skin. If you like it even more flexible, you can go with fine rib underwear with a little bit of spandex. As a result, the garments not only become stretchy, they also retain their shape and stay in top shape even after washing.
Fine rib – still innovative to this day
It’s amazing how popular our SCHIESSER original quality is even after nearly 100 years! As daywear or sleepwear, sportswear or loungewear: fine rib can do it all and can be produced in almost any quality. We’re constantly using innovative materials: Tencel, modal, bamboo, functional synthetic fibers – nothing is a problem for fine rib!
In addition to the choice of materials, fine rib underwear is also diverse in terms of its look.
For example, patterns can be knitted – our popular stripes especially – in a variety of colors and thicknesses. The fine surface also makes it possible to apply fashionable printing techniques: from a sparkling Princess Lillifee and cool slogan prints to all-over patterns – anything is possible. This demonstrates that fine rib will remain a popular SCHIESSER fabric with young and old alike for the next 100 years!
