TENCEL™ is an industrially manufactured cellulose fibre from the company Lenzing AG, also known under the technical term lyocell. As the world’s leading producer of lyocell, the company has attached great value to handling natural resources in a responsible manner since the 1990s. TENCEL™ consists of beech and spruce fibres from FSC and PEFC-certified and controlled forests in Europe, as well as eucalyptus wood from South African plantations. Once crushed very fine, this cellulose mix is broken down with non-toxic solvents and water and processed to TENCEL™ fibres over multiple manufacturing steps.
Due to the closed cycle of materials, this manufacturing process is particularly sustainable and significantly less environmentally harmful than the production of comparable cellulose fibres. Water consumption is also 20x lower than in cotton processing.
TENCEL™ is therefore not just an especially environmentally friendly fibre, but is also appealing due to ist high level of functionality. It is very resistant to tears, durable and has a cooling effect. The material optimally regulates moisture that arises, so your clothes stay comfortable and dry, even with heavy sweating. This makes TENCEL™ a natural, hygienic fibre.
Due to the optimal temperature management, the fibre doesn’t just cool; it provides warmth when needed. The micro-fine structure ensures that the material adapts to the conditions and needs of your body and compensates for the temperature.
Underwear and sleepwear made of TENCEL™ is not just functional, it looks good enough to be seen, as well. The cellulose fibre is particularly smooth and possesses a fine sheen. The processed cloth shimmers with a silk-like raffinesse and is exceptionally smooth. This has the advantage that the material crinkles significantly less. TENCEL™ fibres are particularly easy to dye in an environmentally friendly way, and they can by easily washed and cared for.
